Troop
156 meets every Monday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Since 1943, Boy
Scouts of America Troop 156 has been following the traditions of scouting by
presenting a traditional program that fulfills the Scouting Aims of character
development, citizenship, mental, and physical training. We achieve these aims by emphasizing the
fundamentals of Scouting, including: Boy Leadership We train our boys to
lead themselves. Every boy is provided
the opportunity to assume a leadership position allowing them to gain
valuable experience planning troop activities, running meetings and
organizing adventures around the needs and interests of the troop. With scoutmasters as coaches and guides, the
boys take control of the program and acquire important leadership skills and
growth in self-esteem. Challenge and Reward Since 1943,
Troop 156 has promoted over 50 scouts to the rank of Eagle. While achieving the rank of Eagle is a
worthwhile goal, it is not for every boy. Every scout however, has the
opportunity to set challenges and achieve them in Scouting, regardless of
their rank. Our program is based on a
series of goals that each boy works to achieve, with rewards and celebrations
along the way. We Have FUN With training and leadership as the foundation, we offer a program where boys are challenged to excel, and when they excel, they can’t help but have fun. Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scout movement said, “Scouting is a game with a purpose.” All of the leadership training and challenges are built around fun activities. Our boys develop their skills through planning and preparing for fun activities like: · Camping · Canoeing and kayaking · Rock climbing & caving · Mountain biking · Competing in scout skills challenges · Community service |
